70. Mr. Lemass asked the Minister for Local Government if he will indicate the research currently in progress in this country on the protection and improvement of the natural environment.

Minister for Local Government (Mr. Tully): A broad range of research activity related to protection and improvement of the environment is in progress in a number of institutes and other bodies, public and private. A complete account of this work is not readily available at present. I understand, however, that a list of some 250 current projects in environmental research and development, prepared by the National Science Council, will be available in the near future.
