Dáil Éireann - Volume 280 - 08 May, 1975 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Farm Modernisation Scheme. Mr. J. O'Leary Mr. J. O'Leary 19. Mr. J. O'Leary asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the number of grants paid under the farm modernisation scheme in County Kerry in the year 1st February, 1974 to 31st January, 1975; the number of applicants awaiting grant payment; and the total number of applications made during that year. Mr. Clinton Mr. Clinton Mr. Clinton: In the year ended 31st January, 1975, grant payments to farmers arose almost entirely under the former farm buildings, water supplies and land project schemes. These payments amounted to £375,000 in County Kerry. While 264 applications for grant aid under the farm modernisation scheme had been received in the farm development service from farmers in County Kerry, none of these claims had matured for payment by 31st January, 1975. Mr. Fahey Mr. Fahey 20. Mr. Fahey asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the number of grants paid under the farm modernisation scheme in County Waterford in the year 1st February, 1974 to 31st January, 1975; the number of applicants awaiting grant payment; and the total number of applications made during the period. Mr. Fahey Mr. Fahey 21. Mr. Fahey asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the amount of money paid to farmers in County Waterford by way of grants under the farm modernisation scheme in the year 1st February, 1974 to 31st January, 1975; and the proportions contributed by the EAGGF and the Irish Government. Mr. Clinton Mr. Clinton Mr. Clinton: I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 20 and 21 together. 1532 In the year ended 31st January, 1975, grant payments to farmers arose almost entirely under the former farm buildings, water supplies and land project schemes. These payments amounted to £252,970 in County [1532] Waterford. While 153 applications for grant aid under the farm modernisation scheme had been received in the farm development service from farmers in County Waterford, none of these claims had matured for payment by 31st January, 1975. As I have already indicated in reply to previous questions, expenditure under the farm modernisation scheme during the year in question was borne by the national Exchequer. Recoupment from the EAGGF which applies only to grants to development farmers will arise in 1976 in respect of expenditure during the present year. Dáil Éireann 280 Ceisteanna—Questions.
