Mr. Wilson asked the Minister for Education when he proposes to make extra funds available to the university colleges to relieve the pressure on their current accounts. Minister for Education (Mr. R. Burke) Richard Burke Minister for Education (Mr. R. Burke): The representations made in this matter are under consideration. I cannot say at this stage what the outcome of that consideration may be. Mr. Wilson Mr. Wilson Mr. Wilson: Is the Minister aware that the salaries of the staffs in university colleges and the tutorial system, which was built up with great care down through the years, are in danger because of lack of funds? Mr. R. Burke Mr. R. Burke Mr. R. Burke: I am aware of the Deputy's assertion to that effect. Mr. Wilson Mr. Wilson Mr. Wilson: Does the Minister not regard it as disgraceful that staffs in university colleges should be asked to accept a cut of one-twelfth in their salaries in order to keep the universities going? Mr. Wilson Mr. Wilson 4 Mr. Wilson: Is the Minister aware that the secretary of UCD, the largest of the colleges involved, has stated that a large increase in student [4] fees plus a cut in salaries are indicated if help is not forthcoming immediately from the Government?
