Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Technical College Scholarships.

41. Mr. Faulkner asked the Minister for Education if he will ensure that all pupils in secondary schools will receive adequate forewarnings of the required grouping of subjects necessary for the award of scholarships to regional technical colleges.

[1597] Mr. R. Burke: The grouping of subjects for the award of scholarships to regional technical colleges is decided by the individual vocational education committees and the advertising of their scholarship schemes is also the function of each individual committee. I have requested committees to send copies of their schemes to the managers of all second-level schools in their areas, where this is not already being done.

Mr. Faulkner: I am satisfied with the Minister's reply. I hope he will continue to impress on the vocational education committees that young people entering vocational schools should know at that point which subjects they should take to qualify.
