28. Mr. Cronin asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding proposals for the establishment of a field biology centre at the Doneraile estate, County Cork.

Mr. R. Burke: The examination of proposals for the establishment of a field biology centre at Doneraile is still in progress in the context of the general proposals for field study centres and the future development of the Doneraile estate.

Mr. Colley: May I ask whether the proposal for a field biology centre, if implemented, would prevent the implementation of another proposal of which I am sure the Minister is aware which would involve the use of the house or mansion on the estate in connection with the activities of a certain Irish-American foundation?

Mr. R. Burke: I am aware of the point raised by the Deputy but would prefer not to make any comment while the matter is still being negotiated by the interests concerned.
