Dáil Éireann - Volume 269 - 12 December, 1973 Committee on Finance. - Appropriation Bill, 1973: Second and Subsequent Stages. Minister for Finance (Mr. R. Ryan) Richie Ryan Minister for Finance (Mr. R. Ryan): I move: “That the Bill be now read a Second Time.” Mr. Colley Mr. Colley Mr. Colley: It is the practice that this Bill go through this House substantially without debate because the items which make it up are available to us for debate under the various Estimates. When this Bill goes to the other House it provides that House with its only opportunity to have a wide ranging debate on the whole economy and therefore the major debate on this Bill will take place in the other House. I propose to follow the tradition of this House and not engage in discussion on this Bill. Mr. R. Ryan Mr. R. Ryan Mr. R. Ryan: I accept that and look forward to a useful debate next week when many misconceptions can be corrected. Mr. Colley Mr. Colley Mr. Colley: That will be a help. Question put and agreed to. 1506 [1506] Agreed to take remaining Stages today. Bill put through Committee, reported without amendment, received for final consideration and passed.
