50. Mr. G. Collins asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the action he proposes to take to ensure that all farm produce graded under the new EEC regulations is sold accordingly to the customer.

Mr. Clinton: The only farm produce to which the question relates are eggs, fresh fruit and fresh vegetables. The EEC grading regulations relating to them are legally binding here since 1st February, 1973 and while full enforcement was not pressed during an initial period when all concerned were being made aware of the new requirements, that period is now regarded as ended. My Department will from now onwards insist on strict compliance with the law.
