Dáil Éireann - Volume 268 - 30 October, 1973
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Benefit Insurance Test.
Mr. Faulkner Mr. Faulkner
22. Mr. Faulkner asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of women normally employed in private domestic service or in agriculture whose claims were allowed as a result of the removal of the ten year insurance test for unemployment benefit.
Mr. Tully Mr. Tully
Mr. Tully: My Department is not maintaining the kind of detailed local records which would be necessary to enable the required information to be given. I can say, however, that, immediately before the removal from 2nd July, 1973 of the test referred to, there were 130 unemployment benefit claims in payment to women of the classes in question; by the end of July the number had increased to 204. Returns as at the end of August, although not yet complete, show that the number had further increased.
