Mr. O'Malley asked the Minister for Health the average monthly number of prescriptions under the choice of doctor scheme; and the average cost per prescription. Mr. Corish Mr. Corish 25 Mr. Corish: The monthly average number of prescriptions under the [25] scheme in the period April to July of this year was 299,869. The average cost per prescription was £1.83p. Mr. O'Malley Mr. O'Malley Mr. O'Malley: Would the Minister not agree that the cost of these prescriptions seems to be abnormally high. Are there steps which the Minister can take to reduce the cost of them to the taxpayer? Mr. Corish Mr. Corish Mr. Corish: As I have stated earlier, the Prices Commission are looking into this.
