Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin City Bomb Explosions.

27. Dr. O'Connell asked the Minister for Justice if his Department has yet received any report on the bomb explosions in Dublin City in December, 1972; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Mr. Cooney: Two explosions occurred in Dublin on Friday, 1st December, 1972. A bomb exploded in a car outside 29 Eden Quay at 7.58 p.m. and a second one exploded in a car at 8.15 p.m. near the junction of Marlboro' Street and Sackville Place.

The Garda say that the cars in which the bombs were placed were hired out from two car hire firms in Belfast on 30th November, 1972. Northern Ireland registration number plates were found on the wrecked cars.

The explosions are still the subject of Garda investigations.
