105. Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Finance the amount Ireland will be required to contribute to the different funds of the EEC in the financial year 1973-74.

Mr. R. Ryan: Contributions to the funds of the European Communities in the financial year 1973-74 are estimated as follows:

To the Communities' budget:	6,000,000
To the European Investment Bank:	450,000
To the Communities' programme of financial aid to Turkey:	200,000
To the funds of the European Coal and Steel Community:	12,500
To the Supply Agency of the European Atomic Energy Community:	1,500
To the European Development Fund:	nil

[487] The European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund and the European Social Fund are integrated with the Communities' budget and consequently the question of Ireland's contributing separately to those funds does not arise.

Mr. Haughey: Does the Minister anticipate that we will have to make any contribution to the new fund which has been established to create monetary stability amongst European currencies?

Mr. R. Ryan: It is expected that Ireland might be required to make a contribution in that sphere but it would not be worthwhile making any calculation at the moment as to what the contribution might be as the terms of the fund, its establishment and obligations have not yet been determined.

Mr. Colley: Is it not true that it is unlikely to arise until there is a decision made to fix the value of the £?

Mr. R. Ryan: That is quite a likely matter.
