Mr. O'Hara asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to newspaper reports (details supplied) of a proposed expenditure of a minimum of £5½ million by [1665] Cómhlucht Siúicre Éireann Teo. for the development and expansion of the company's marketing activities; and if he will take the necessary steps to ensure that Connacht receives special attention when any such development is being undertaken.

Mr. Colley: The proposed expenditure by Comhlucht Siúicre Éireann Teoranta to which the Deputy refers will relate solely to modernisation of the company's sugar factories in order to improve considerably their efficiency. I understand that the Tuam factory is included in the modernisation programme.
