12. Mr. Desmond asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will make a statement on the future intentions of his Department concerning the operations of the duty-free [1650] shop at Cork Airport in the context of developing EEC regulations.

Minister for Social Welfare (Mr. J. Brennan) (for the Minister for Transport and Power): Proposals for regulations governing duty-free sales at airports to intra-community travellers are at present under examination by the Commission of the EEC., in consultation with the member and acceding states. Pending the outcome of this examination no change in the existing arrangements at the Irish airport shops is envisaged.
