Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - EEC Commission Proposal.

36. Mr. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he has received a copy of the EEC Commission proposal that member States abolish all aids to specific investments to increase production of vegetables, non-edible horticultural products and goods processed therefrom, beet and sugar; if he will state the existing Irish aids which would be affected by this proposal; and if he has presented his views on the subject to the Commission.

Mr. J. Gibbons: My Department is at present examining the commission's proposal in this matter and its implications for our agricultural aids.

It is, of course, a function of the commission to examine aids in member States, in which connection member States are given the opportunity of presenting their views.

Mr. Bruton: Could the Minister state roughly what proportion of our aids to horticulture are in the form of aids to specific investments?

Mr. J. Gibbons: I do not think there are any.
