121. Mr. L'Estrange asked the Taoiseach the officers of his Department in receipt of special allowances or fees of any kind in respect of service as company directors, civil service commissioners or in any extra-departmental capacity; and the annual amount of such allowances or fees in each case.

The Taoiseach: The secretary of my Department (who is also the secretary to the Government) is a Civil Service Commissioner. His salary is inclusive of an allowance that was formerly payable to him as a Civil Service Commissioner.

122. Mr. L'Estrange asked the Minister for Health the officers of his Department in receipt of special allowances or fees of any kind in respect of service as company directors, civil service commissioners or in any extra-departmental capacity; and the annual amount of such allowances or fees in each case.

Minister for Health (Mr. Childers): The secretary of my Department is a Local Appointments Commissioner. The salary for the post of secretary also covers the duties attaching to the office of Commissioner.

123. Mr. L'Estrange asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the officers of his Department in receipt of special allowances or fees of any kind in respect of service as company directors, civil service commissioners or in any extra-departmental capacity; and the annual amount of such allowances or fees in each case.

Minister for Foreign Affairs (Dr. Hillery): There are no officers in my Department in receipt of such allowances or fees.

124. Mr. L'Estrange asked the Minister for Transport and Power the officers of his Department in receipt of special allowances or fees of any kind in respect of service as company directors, Civil Service commissioners [1101] or in any extra-departmental capacity; and the annual amount of such allowances or fees in each case.

Minister for Transport and Power (Mr. B. Lenihan): One assistant secretary of my Department is in receipt of a fee of £325 a year as a director of Shannon Free Airport Development Co. Ltd.

Mr. L'Estrange asked the Minister for Social Welfare the officers of his Department in receipt of special allowances or fees of any kind in respect of service as company directors, Civil Service commissioners or in any extra-departmental capacity; and the annual amount of such allowances or fees in each case.

126. Mr. L'Estrange asked the Minister for Labour the officers of his Department in receipt of special allowances or fees of any kind in respect of service as company directors, Civil Service commissioners or in any extra-departmental capacity; and the annual amount of such allowances or fees in each case.

Minister for Labour (Mr. J. Brennan): Two officers of my Department are seconded to An Chomhairle Oiliúna and are in receipt of allowances. One officer, serving as director of An Chomhairle, is paid an annual allowance of £750. The other, serving as secretary of An Chomhairle, is paid an annual allowance of £301.

127. Mr. L'Estrange asked the Minister for Finance the officers of his Department in receipt of special allowances or fees of any kind in respect of service as company directors, Civil Service commissioners or in any extra-departmental capacity; and the annual amount of such allowances or fees in each case.

Minister for Finance (Mr. Colley): The secretary is in receipt of £750 per annum as a director of the Central Bank of Ireland. A deputy secretary receives £200 per annum as a Civil [1102] Service commissioner while two deputy assistant secretaries receive £500 and £200 per annum as directors of Nítrigin Éireann Teoranta and the National Stud respectively. A principal receives £325 per annum as a director of the National Building Agency.

128. Mr. L'Estrange asked the Minister for the Gaeltacht the officers of his Department in receipt of special allowances or fees of any kind in respect of service as company directors, Civil Service commissioners or in any extra-departmental capacity; and the annual amount of such allowances or fees in each case.

Minister for the Gaeltacht (Mr. Colley): Tá luach saothair bhreise ag an rúnaí agus ag Ardoifigeach Feidhmiúcháin—£375 mar chomhalta de Bhord Ghaeltarra Éireann agus £200 mar rúnaí ar Arramara Teoranta, faoi seach.

Minister for Lands (Mr. S. Flanagan): The only officer of my Department who is in receipt of an allowance of this kind is the public trustee and chief examiner of title in the Land Commission who receives a temporary non-pensionable allowance of £296 a year for the performance of the duties of registrar to the Labour Court.

[1104] Minister for Industry and Commerce (Mr. Lalor): The deputy secretary receives £325 a year as a director of Shannon Free Airport Development Company Ltd. One assistant secretary receives £500 a year as a member of the Industrial Development Authority and another receives £325 a year as a director of the National Building Agency Ltd. A principal officer receives £100 a year as a member of the Merchandise Marks Commission.
