Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Psychiatric Nurses' Pension Rights.

130. Mr. Coughlan asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that psychiatric nurses who recently went on strike have lost their pension rights; and when he proposes to have these rights restored.

Mr. Molloy: Officers who forfeit pensionable service when they absent themselves without authority from their places of duty have a right under the Local Government (Superannnuation) Act, 1956, to appeal to me to have the service restored. The officers referred to in the question did, in fact, make such appeals and I have restored all the pensionable service which they had forfeited.
