19. Mr. Desmond asked the Minister for Justice if, arising from the success of the Shanganagh open institution experiment, any further extension of this development is proposed.

Minister for Justice (M. O'Malley): While the Shanganagh development has been and continues to be very successful, an extension of that particular type of development is not necessary, at the present time at all events, as the present institution can cater for all boys suitable for transfer to it.
