36. Mr. Desmond and Dr. Thornley asked the Minister for Education when the arrears of salary arising from the twelfth round adjustments payable to teachers will be cleared by his Department.

Mr. Faulkner: It is expected that all arrears due to primary teachers will be cleared towards the end of this month.

There are no arrears outstanding in the case of secondary or comprehensive school teachers.

Vocational teachers are paid by the local authorities and sanction to apply the twelfth round increase to the salaries and allowances of vocational teachers was conveyed to the appropriate authorities on 30th September, 1970.
