19. Mr. O'Donnell asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will indicate the degree of participation by Aer Lingus in Northern Ireland.

Mr. B. Lenihan: Aer Lingus operate daily scheduled services between Belfast, Dublin and Shannon. The company have had discussions recently with a number of Northern Ireland businessmen who wish to set up a Northern Ireland based airline. Aer Lingus may be invited to take a minority share and to provide the management and technical operation. The proposal is still under discussion and I understand that a major consideration will be the degree of support given to the project in Northern Ireland.
