Mr. Hussey asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the hardship caused to traders at Shop Street, Tuam, County Galway, as a result of the enforcement of the traffic by-laws; and if he will take steps to relax same and allow at least one hour parking until such time as a car park is provided. Mr. O'Malley Mr. O'Malley Mr. O'Malley: Parking by-laws are made by the Commissioner, Garda Síochána, after consultation with the local authority, with the consent of the Minister for Local Government. 1327 I understand that, as a result of the recent opening of a new road which enables trucks and other heavy traffic to by-pass Shop Street in Tuam, the question of a relaxation of the existing parking by-laws applicable to that street has been the subject of consultation between the local Garda and the [1327] Town Commissioners and a decision is expected shortly.
