Mr. Begley asked the Minister for Finance how much tax the winner of the Hospital Sweepstake 1st Prize of £200,000 must pay to the State on the prize money. Mr. Colley Mr. Colley 15 Mr. Colley: Under existing legislation, no tax is payable to the State on any prizes, as such, in the Hospital Sweepstakes. Income tax may, of course, be payable on the income derived from such prizes and death duties may affect the balance of any [15] such prizes which may form part of the estate of a deceased person.
