19. Mr. T.J. Fitzpatrick (Dublin South Central) asked the Minister for Local Government if the proposed eye test for learner-drivers will be conducted so as to ascertain whether a person's sight undergoes any adverse changes when driving under night conditions.

Mr. Boland: The intention is that initially the eyesight test will be related to visual acuity and will not cover other aspects of visual efficiency such as dark adaptation or glare recovery.
