27. Mr. McLaughlin asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries what sum of money was allocated towards agriculture in last year's Budget; and what amount of that sum was spent on administering it before it reached the purpose towards which it was allocated.

Mr. Blaney: The total amount of State expenditure in relation to agriculture in the year 1967-68 was £68,968,000. Of this amount £49,208,443 was provided through the Vote for my Department and salaries, travelling and other staff expenses account for £3,965,000 of this or approximately eight per cent.
