Dáil Éireann - Volume 231 - 12 December, 1967 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo School Transport. Mr. O'Hara Mr. O'Hara 62. Mr. O'Hara asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that approximately 15 children in the Gurteen, Carrowleamore, Carrowleambeg, Fross, and Killasser, Swinford area of County Mayo are still without school transport; and if he will arrange to have this very necessary transport provided at an early date. Minister for Education (Mr. O'Malley) Donogh O'Malley 1842 Minister for Education (Mr. O'Malley): Killasser and Gurteen are [1842] both located on school bus routes into Swinford and pupils from these districts have free transport. Because of the nature of the roads in the areas, it has not yet been possible to provide a satisfactory service for a number of pupils from the Carrowleamore, Carrowleambeg and Fross districts. CIE are at present endeavouring to overcome the problems involved and I hope that is will be possible to provide a service at an early date. Mr. O'Hara Mr. O'Hara Mr. O'Hara: May I draw the Minister's attention to the fact that a minibus, or a lighter vehicle, would solve the problem? May I also say that the people of that area appreciate very much what has been done in the adjoining areas? What has been done has brought great relief to those areas, but my suggestion now of a minibus would provide the perfect solution for the whole area. Dáil Éireann 231 Ceisteanna—Questions.
