Dáil Éireann - Volume 229 - 21 June, 1967 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water Supply Schemes. Mr. Cronin Mr. Cronin 14. Mr. Cronin asked the Minister for Local Government the present position in regard to the proposed group water supply scheme at Shanavoher, Mallow, County Cork. Mr. Boland Mr. Boland Mr. Boland: I understand that the moneys available to the group by way of cash contributions and grants were not sufficient to finance the scheme originally proposed. A revised scheme involving a new design and another source is now being considered. Mr. L'Estrange Mr. L'Estrange 15. Mr. L'Estrange asked the Minister for Local Government the reasons for the delay in sanctioning the Lough Gowna regional water supply scheme; and if he is now in a position to do so. Mr. Boland Mr. Boland Mr. Boland: Contract documents for the scheme are still under consideration in my Department. I am not in a position to say when a decision thereon is likely to issue. Mr. L'Estrange Mr. L'Estrange Mr. L'Estrange: Is it not true that the delay is due to the fact that there is no money because of the Fianna Fáil credit squeeze of the last few years? Mr. Boland Mr. Boland 851 Mr. Boland: I have sanctioned upwards of £2 million worth of this work [851] in the last few weeks. While I appreciate that a sum of £2 million is of no consequence to the Fine Gael professional policymakers, or indeed a sum of £8 million, or any other sum that can be mentioned, still, to those who have to raise it it is a considerable sum and is not “no money”. Mr. L'Estrange Mr. L'Estrange Mr. L'Estrange: Can you give any guarantee that it will ever be paid? Mr. Cronin Mr. Cronin 16. Mr. Cronin asked the Minister for Local Government what the present position is in regard to the proposed extension of the Doneraile water supply, County Cork. Mr. Boland Mr. Boland Mr. Boland: Cork County Council's proposal for an extension of the Doneraile water supply forms part of section 2 of the Buttevant/Doneraile regional water supply scheme, the preliminary report for which was referred back to the council by my Department for further consideration on 10th March, 1966. There have been no further developments since that date. Dáil Éireann 229 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. Water Supply Schemes. Questions 19670621
