Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transport of County Dublin Schoolchildren.

26. Mr. Andrews asked the Minister [1325] for Education if, in view of CIE's continued refusal to provide a service for the children of Killiney, County Dublin attending Ballybrack national school, he is prepared to provide a school bus to cater for these children.

Mr. Haughey (for the Minister for Education): The question of the need for a State-aided school transport service from Killiney to Ballybrack national school was investigated by my Department a little over a year ago. In view of the distance involved—about 1.2 miles—payment of a grant towards the cost of a transport service would not be warranted.
