Mr. Hilliard Mr. Hilliard
Mr. Hilliard: The following amounts were paid to the Irish Red Cross Society from State funds in each of the last five completed financial years:—
These amounts were paid under statutory authority by way of grant-in-aid to assist the Society in carrying out the statutory functions for which it was established. The amount of the grant-in-aid is decided after examination in my Department of audited accounts and estimates of income and expenditure submitted by the Society
The Irish Red Cross Society has statutory autonomous status in accordance with which it alone controls its own expenditure.
