44. Mr. Donegan asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what are the present unpaid commitments of An Foras Tionscal in respect of grants for industry.

Dr. Hillery: Total commitments of An Foras Tionscal in respect of grants approved were £25,834,834 at 30th September, 1965, which is the latest date for which figures are readily available. Grants paid at that date amounted to £13,559,284 and approved grants unpaid totalled £12,275,550.

Grant payments by an Foras Tionscal become due on production by the grantee of proof that he has already disbursed agreed sums. The amount of approved grants unpaid at any time is determined by this arrangement.
