47. Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Local Government if there are any plans before his Department for the provision of an abattoir at the Fair Green, Galway; if so, when the plans will be approved; and when the work will commence.

Mr. Blaney: Proposals in regard to the erection of an abattoir at the Fair Green, Galway, have been submitted to my Department and are being examined. Some technical aspects of the matter require further detailed investigation and these are the subject of current correspondence with the local authority. I am unable to say at this stage when approval may be given or when the work may commence.
