Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Viable One-Teacher Schools.

18. Sir Anthony Esmonde asked the Minister for Education what he considers the minimum number of pupils to create a viable school with one teacher.

Dr. Hillery: I presume the Deputy is referring to a viable school for mentally handicapped children. I would not be prepared to grant recognition to a one-teacher school for the mentally handicapped.

Sir Anthony Esmonde: This question applies to general schools.

Dr. Hillery: It got mixed up with the mentally handicapped. I ask the Deputy to repeat the question.

Sir Anthony Esmonde: Fair enough. The week after next, if we are here.

Mr. Haughey: Oh, we will be here all right.

Mr. Coughlan: Thanks to us.
