[358] 3. Mr. Crinion asked the Taoiseach how many recipients of unemployment benefit there were (1) in the country and (2) in the Kildare constituency on 1st February 1965.

Mr. J. Brennan: With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 2 and 3 together and to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving the numbers in receipt of unemployment benefit and unemployment assistance in the country and in the local offices of Athy, Kildare, Maynooth and Droichead Nua on 29th January, the date nearest 1st February for which particulars are available. The available data on numbers in receipt of unemployment benefit and unemployment assistance relate to the areas covered by the local offices of the Department of Social Welfare.

Following is the statement:

NUMBERS in receipt of Unemployment Benefit and Unemployment Assistance in the country and in the local offices of Athy, Kildare, Maynooth and Droichead Nua on 29 January, 1965.
