Dáil Éireann - Volume 213 - 02 December, 1964
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Code of Industrial Relations.
Mr. Timmons Mr. Timmons
52. Mr. Timmons asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what stage has been reached in the formulation of a new code of industrial relations; and if he proposes to alter the status of the Labour Court.
Mr. Haughey Mr. Haughey
Mr. Haughey: The existing industrial Relations machinery established by the Industrial Relations Act of 1946 has been under review in my Department for some considerable time past. I had hoped in the course of this review to have the benefit of agreed recommendations from employer and labour interests but, as these have not emerged, I am proceeding with the formulation of proposals which I shall discuss with employer and labour interests before final decisions are taken. In the meantime I am not in a position to make a statement in the matter.
