29. Mr. Coogan asked the Minister for Local Government the current number of applications for houses with all local bodies in the country.

Mr. Coogan: Can the Minister indicate why such important information is not available?

Mr. Blaney: For the very simple reason that the local authorities are not required to furnish such information. It is not regarded as very important because applications alone do not indicate anything of a definite nature.
