Mr. Mullen asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of outstanding applications for telephone service in the Cabra and Ballymun areas, Dublin; and when he expects that the applicants will get service. Mr. Hilliard Mr. Hilliard Mr. Hilliard: The numbers are about 150 and 200 respectively. Some 150 will be dealt with in the next few months. It is hoped to clear about half of the remainder within the following few months. Because of the necessary concentration on urgent long-term work in the interest of subscribers generally, it may not be possible for some time to clear the balance of the applications. Mr. Corish asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applicants for telephones in Wexford [1941] County which are outstanding at the present time; and when he expects that these needs will be satisfied. Mr. Hilliard Mr. Hilliard Mr. Hilliard: The number is 215. Some 60 of these will be dealt with in the next few months. Because of the necessary concentration on urgent long-term work in the interest of subscribers generally, it may not be possible for some time to clear the remaining applications. Mr. Corish Mr. Corish Mr. Corish: Will the 60 to which the Minister referred be spread over the whole county or are they in a particular area? Mr. Hilliard Mr. Hilliard Mr. Hilliard: I would say they would be over the whole county but I have not that precise information here. Mr. Sheridan Mr. Sheridan 46. Mr. Sheridan asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applications at present outstanding for telephones in the constituency of Longford-Westmeath; and when it is expected that these will be dealt with. Mr. Hilliard Mr. Hilliard Mr. Hilliard: The number is 230 approximately. In the case of about 80 of these, arrangements to provide service have been made, or will be made in the next few months. A further 60 will be offered service in the following few months.
