14. Mr. Kitt asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will ascertain from the Potato Marketing Board the average price per ton paid for certified seed potatoes to producers for the 1962 crop; and what is the average price expected to be paid for the 1963 crop.

Dr. Ryan: The Irish Potato Marketing Company purchases potatoes for export on an f.o.b. basis. I am informed by the Company that the average f.o.b. price for certified seed from the 1962 crop was £28 per ton. In view of the surplus potato stocks in most European countries it is anticipated that the average f.o.b. price for the 1963 crop will be around £20 per ton.
