Dáil Éireann - Volume 204 - 16 July, 1963 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballina Housing. Mr. Leneghan Mr. Leneghan 42. Mr. Leneghan asked the Minister for Local Government if he will request Ballina Urban District Council, County Mayo to take steps to have houses provided to meet the requirements of those who will be employed in the new factory in Ballina. Mr. Blaney Mr. Blaney 916 Mr. Blaney: The assessment of housing need and the formulation of [916] proposals for the provision of whatever local authority houses are needed in its area are functions of the housing authority concerned, which may have regard to need which arises from industrial development. I have brought to the notice of housing authorities the desirability of making adequate provision in addition to their own building programmes, for developed sites and the other facilities available under the Housing Acts to assist persons to provide their own accommodation.
