Dáil Éireann - Volume 203 - 30 May, 1963 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Educational Facilities Surveys. Mr. Pattison Mr. Pattison 27. Mr. Pattison asked the Minister for Education if, in connection with his statement of 26th May that detailed surveys of certain areas of the country with a view to ascertaining the need for additional educational facilities were under way, he will state the number of surveys which have already begun; what areas are covered by each of these surveys; the total number of these surveys; the total number of surveys contemplated; and the areas of the country which will be covered by them. Dr. Hillery Dr. Hillery Dr. Hillery: I have already stated that the areas involved in relation to the surveys will be those situated in western, north-western and south-western regions of the country wherever the present provision for post-primary education is inadequate. The carrying out of the surveys in an orderly manner make it imperative at this juncture that there should be no public announcement of the districts involved in relation to each individual survey. Mr. Pattison Mr. Pattison 599 [599] 28. Mr. Pattison asked the Minister for Education when he expects that the surveying of areas, with a view to ascertaining their need for additional education facilities, will be completed. Dr. Hillery Dr. Hillery Dr. Hillery: There will be no avoidable delay in the completion of these surveys. It is, however, not possible to state precisely when they will be completed.
