Dáil Éireann - Volume 202 - 30 April, 1963

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Value of Turf Sales.

19. Mr. K.P. Egan asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will state in respect of Bord na Móna the total value of sales of milled peat, machine turf, and briquettes for the year 1962-63.

Mr. Childers: I am informed by Bord na Móna that in the year ended 31st March, 1963, sales of machine turf were £2,634,101; milled peat £1,323,098 and turf briquettes £1,177,006.

Mr. Dillon: Can the Minister state if the present sales of turf briquettes tax the capacity of the two factories we have established?

An Leas-Cheann Comhairle: That would be a separate question.

Mr. Dillon: It is a simple question. Are we able to sell the entire output of the two factories?

[548] Mr. Childers: We are able to sell their output.

Mr. Dillon: Is it proposed to add to their capacity for the production of turf briquettes?

Mr. Childers: Not at the moment.
