Dáil Éireann - Volume 199 - 29 January, 1963

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Tipperary Houses.

19. Mr. Tierney asked the Minister for Local Government the reasons for the delay in sanctioning a compulsory purchase order for the building of a group of houses, which was forwarded to him by the North Tipperary County Council in 1961.

Minister for Social Welfare (Mr. Boland) (for the Minister for Local Government): There has been no avoidable delay in dealing with the compulsory purchase order to which the Deputy refers.

On 17th August, 1962, I confirmed the Order as respects 30 of the 40 sites contained therein. Acquisition of the remaining 10 sites was the subject of objections and a public local inquiry was held to consider these objections. Examination of the evidence taken at the inquiry and reports on the sites is in progress and I expect to be in a position to issue a decision on the Order very shortly.
