Dáil Éireann - Volume 198 - 11 December, 1962 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Wicklow Forestry Workers. Mr. M.J. O'Higgins Mr. M.J. O'Higgins 71. Mr. M.J. O'Higgins asked the Minister for Lands (a) how many men were laid of during the present year at Hollywood forest, County Wicklow; (b) the reasons for laying them off; and if he is aware that one of them was employed by his Department for fourteen years and is in poor financial circumstances; and if he will endeavour to have this man re-employed. Mr. Lenihan Mr. Lenihan Mr. Lenihan: In March, 1962, eighteen men were laid off at Hollywood forest. The lay-off was due to a reduction in the amount of work available at the forest. All relevant factors were taken into account in the selection of the men to be laid off. The work position has not improved since and I regret, therefore, that there is no prospect of re-employing any of the men concerned in the immediate future. Mr. M.J. O'Higgins Mr. M.J. O'Higgins 1012 [1012] Mr. M.J. O'Higgins: Could the Parliamentary Secretary say when there might be a prospect of re-employing them or some of them? Mr. Lenihan Mr. Lenihan Mr. Lenihan: At present there is no clear picture as to that. Dáil Éireann 198 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. County Wicklow Forestry Workers. Questions 19621211
