Mr. O.J. Flanagan Mr. O.J. Flanagan
29. Mr. O.J. Flanagan asked the Minister for Local Government what is the delay, so far as his Department is concerned, in regard to the construction of a new bridge over the River Brosna at Clononey, Shannonbridge, County Offaly; if he will give the date on which the proposal came from the Offaly County Council; and when it is expected that he can give his approval for the carrying-out of this very urgent work.
Mr. Blaney Mr. Blaney
Mr. Blaney: No avoidable delay has occurred in my Department in dealing with the Offaly County Council's proposal for the reconstruction of Clononey bridge. A proposal to appoint a consultant for this work was made on the 6th March, 1958. Final contract documents received on 14th ultimo have been approved, subject to certain minor modifications.
