Dáil Éireann - Volume 193 - 13 March, 1962

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kilcock (Kildare) Housing Scheme.

30. Mr. Norton asked the Minister for Local Government when he will approve the layout plan for the erection of twenty-four houses at Kilcock, which has been submitted to him by the Kildare County Council.

Mr. Blaney: The county council have been requested to reconsider certain aspects of this plan and their replies to the points raised are awaited.

Mr. Norton: Will the Minister say when they were so requested?

Mr. Blaney: I think it was early this month or at the end of last month. I have not got the information here. I know it was within the past few weeks.

Mr. Norton: It was because there was no reply from the Minister that the question was put in.

Mr. Blaney: No reply to what?

Mr. Norton: It was because there was no decision from the Minister on the lay-out plan that this question was put in.

Mr. Blaney: The information which I have here, if it is of interest to the Deputy, is that on 28th December, 1961, a lay-out plan was submitted for approval and a revised version was submitted on 22nd January to provide for a scheme of 24 houses. We found that those 24 houses as laid out would continue an existing scheme of 20 houses already built and would give us a line of 44 houses. The result would thus be a ribbon of houses on the road into the village of Kilcock which would be objectionable on planning grounds. The lay-out was re-submitted to the local authority and we are awaiting its view.
