57. Mr. Leneghan asked the Minister for Local Government if he will make increased grants available for the provision of bathrooms with hot and cold water in private houses.

Mr. Blaney: Grants for new houses and for reconstruction, repair and improvement of existing houses are appropriately increased where the applicant's proposals include the provision of water and sewerage facilities. A special grant is also available for an extension of the floor area of a house to provide a bathroom. Increases in the existing grants for these purposes are not at present contemplated.
