11. Mr. Wycherley asked the Minister for Agriculture the amount of subsidy paid on fat cattle exported to date; and for what period he will continue to pay such subsidy.

Mr. Smith: Up to 9th June, 1961, total payments under this scheme, which applies to carcase beef as well as fat cattle, amounted to £673,113, of which £483,179 represented payments on fat cattle and £189,934 related to carcase beef.

As to the second part of the Question, I would refer the Deputy to the statement issued on 9th June by the Government Information Bureau on behalf of my Department.
