10. Mr. Desmond asked the Minister for Agriculture if the Agricultural Wages Board has power under section 17(2) of the Agricultural Wages Act, 1936, to define overtime employment for the purpose of any order made by the Board providing for a differential rate in the case of overtime.

Minister for Agriculture (Mr. Smith): I am advised that the Board have power to define overtime employment for the purposes of an Order made under Section 17 of the Agricultural Wages Act, 1936, but that it would not be open to the Board to define as “overtime employment” what is part of the normal working period under a contract of employment.
