Dáil Éireann - Volume 185 - 15 December, 1960 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork House Reconstruction Grants. Mr. Casey Mr. Casey 22. Mr. Casey asked the Minister for Local Government the cause of the delay by his Department in carrying out inspections for house reconstruction grants in the Cork City area; and what steps he proposes to take to clear existing arrears. Mr. Blaney Mr. Blaney 1335 Mr. Blaney: The number of cases awaiting inspection by officers of my Department in the Cork City area has tended to rise in recent months, and in the same period difficulties have been experienced in obtaining housing inspectors to fill vacancies caused by resignations. To meet this position, the Civil Service Commissioners were [1335] requested some time ago to hold a competition for the recruitment of housing inspectors. I understand that the competition is now being held and and I hope that, as a result, additional officers will shortly be available to cope with the present high volume of work on hands. Mr. Sweetman Mr. Sweetman Mr. Sweetman: Does that apply to Cork only or to other areas as well? Mr. Blaney Mr. Blaney Mr. Blaney: Other areas as well. Dáil Éireann 185 Ceisteanna—Questions.
