Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Width of Land Commission Roads.

26. Mr. Johnston asked the Minister for Lands if he will take steps to ensure that all future roads made by the Land Commission will be of a minimum width of sixteen feet so as to facilitate their being taken over for repair and maintenance by the local authority.

Mr. Moran: I am having this suggestion examined by the Land Commission. I should add that the limited user of such by-roads, particularly those serving merely a few allotments, would scarcely justify the increased expenditure involved in adopting a minimum width of sixteen feet in all cases.

Mr. Sweetman: Will the Minister ensure that the Land Commission will lay down a proper foundation for their new roads, which would be far more beneficial?

An Ceann Comhairle: Sin ceist eile.

[885] Mr. Moran: Is the Deputy interested in a particular bog road?

Mr. Sweetman: No, but he is interested in roads into holdings in county Kildare.
