Mr. Coogan asked the Minister for Agriculture the subsidy paid per lb. on exported Irish creamery butter; and the amount of butter exported in the year ended 31st March, 1960. Minister for Agriculture (Mr. Smith) Patrick Smith Minister for Agriculture (Mr. Smith): The total quantity of butter exported during the year ended 31st March, 1960 was 14,081 cwt. which included 3,139 cwt. of creamery butter. The average amount paid or to be paid in respect of the export deficit on the creamery butter is approximately 8½d. per Ib., of which two-thirds is payable from the Exchequer and one-third from the Dairy Produce (Price Stabilisation) Fund.
