Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin New Schools.

97. Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for Education when it is proposed to provide a new national school at Shankill, County Dublin.

Dr. Hillery: Tenders for the erection of the proposed new school at Shankill, County Dublin, have been obtained by the Commissioners of Public Works and are, at present, under consideration. I am unable to say when work on the construction of the new school will commence.

98. Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for Education when it is proposed to provide a new national school at Kilternan, County Dublin.

Dr. Hillery: A site has been offered by the Parish Priest for the erection of a new school at Kilternan, County Dublin, and the Commissioners of Public Works have been asked to furnish a report as to its suitability. If the site is acceptable, certain preliminary arrangements will have to be made before a grant can be sanctioned by my Department towards the cost of the new school and before a contract for its construction can be placed. These arrangements will necessarily take a considerable time to complete and I am unable to say [1297] when a grant will be sanctioned or when the work on the erection of the new school will be put in hands.
