Mr. Geoghegan asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce why the power station at Screebe, Maam Cross, County Galway, is not in operation; and when it is expected that it will start. Mr. S. Lemass: The decision as to what power stations are to be operated at any particular time is a matter of the day to day administration of the Electricity Supply Board in which I have no authority to intervene. I have, however, made enquiries of the Board and have been informed that Screebe Power Station is not at present in operation because supplies of suitable turf are not available. The station will recommence when supplies are available. Mr. Dillon Mr. Dillon Mr. Dillon: Has Screebe turf station ever functioned? Mr. S. Lemass Mr. S. Lemass Mr. S. Lemass: Oh, yes. Mr. Dillon Mr. Dillon Mr. Dillon: Is there any prospect of getting a supply of turf in this area? Mr. S. Lemass Mr. S. Lemass 10 [10] Mr. S. Lemass: The Deputy is aware that last season was completely abnormal as far as turf was concerned. Mr. Dillon Mr. Dillon Mr. Dillon: Is there any prospect of getting turf for the operation of this and other turf stations? Mr. S. Lemass Mr. S. Lemass Mr. S. Lemass: Certainly. Mr. Dillon Mr. Dillon Mr. Dillon: I wonder is the Minister right in his anticipation? Mr. S. Lemass Mr. S. Lemass Mr. S. Lemass: I am quite certain.
